Page Not Found: Ignorance is Bliss, Right?

Since January 20, 2025, the Trump administration has intentionally erased critical public health data from government websites. This includes essential reports on infectious diseases, public health guidelines, and vital resources that help protect individuals and communities. These data removals impact everyone—from families looking for flu shot locations to health professionals tracking disease outbreaks and making life-saving decisions.

Many Americans once relied on these public health sites for accurate, up-to-date information on flu shots, free COVID-19 testing, and emerging disease trends like bird flu. Although federal judges have ordered the restoration of some resources, significant gaps remain—especially in areas concerning infectious disease, addiction services and mental health. Even if you have never directly accessed these websites, they have been necessary  to health departments, doctors, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and federal agencies like USAID. These resources informed state governments, guided policymakers, and supported collaboration with international health organizations like  the World Health Organization (WHO).

Local governments and health partners have been left in the dark, unable to coordinate with the State Department on emerging threats like the marburg virus, measles, and bird flu and unable to fund critical medical research—including studies on cancer, Alzheimer’s, and long COVID. But the consequences of these actions extend far beyond our borders. By withdrawing the U.S. from the WHO, and shutting down USAID, the Trump administration has isolated the country from global health leadership. Without a seat at the international table, the U.S. loses access to real-time outbreak information, vital medical resources, and opportunities for American companies to supply life-saving goods worldwide.

This data purge is a form of  silencing scientific voices and it is  deliberate. By silencing health experts and restricting access to factual information, the administration weakens public health systems designed to prevent and respond to crises. Without reliable, science-based resources, Americans are left to navigate health threats based on political opinions rather than evidence. The less informed the public is, the easier it is to avoid accountability, and spread radical misinformation.

Consider the consequences: officials downplay measles outbreaks despite 483 reported cases across 20 states and two confirmed deaths, yet some communities don’t have access to information to help them stay safe. The first Trump administration dismissed the severity of COVID-19, even as over a million Americans died. Now, they are shutting down public health agencies and removing experienced healthcare professionals—because truth and science threaten their narrative.

You and your family deserve access to accurate health information. You have a right to the truth. The erosion of public health transparency isn’t just a political issue—it’s a direct threat to our collective well-being. Stay informed, demand accountability, and don’t be misled. The stakes are too high to ignore.
